#1 FAQ - How many watts of solar panels can I have connected to this?

Answer: If you are charging a 12.8v lifepo4 battery at 14.6v multiply 14.6v by 40a. That would be 584w max solar input. 5x 100w 12v solar panels in series would work. Or for charging 25.6v lifepo4 batteries at 29.2v you could have up to 1168w of solar panels. 10x 100w 12v solar panels in 5s2p would work. Or of course you can use higher watt solar panels. Just keep the solar open circuit voltage input under 100v. You can always parallel solar panels to keep the voltage under. Volts x amps = watts. Always make sure your solar input voltage stays below 100v and amps are under 40a. Also make sure your battery can handle up to 40a continuous charge rate. We recommend using a 40a in line fuse as an added layer of protection between the charge controller and battery.
