*These are the same exact BYD modules that we previously had in stock, but these in particular have two bad cells. Many customers have simply cut and rerouted the busbars around the bad cells. One or two sides of the case may be a little cracked or expanded. These cracks also could have been caused from handling. Either way the green straps are still in tact for compression. The 5 out of 8 cells are still showing good voltage and are not leaking. At $80 per module you can't go wrong. We recommend adding a balancer and then keeping the cells between 3.00v and 3.4v. They will be easier to stay balanced this way.

We are guaranteeing only 3 dead cells and pricing these at absolute rock bottom prices. These have a lot of life left for energy storage applications and you can still make a 4s 12v battery out of this.

Check the discharge graph from our testing in the 2nd photo. Most of our tests of the modules that had all 8 cells working were around the 3kWh mark as you can see in the test results but some were higher.  Large lifepo4 modules are hard to keep in balance blow 3v per cell and above 3.4v per cell. Ride that discharge curve line and get very extended cycle life out of these. each cell will be roughly 3.2v 120ah give or take. Essentially you are getting 5 cells at just $16 each.

These came out of a solar field installation and the batteries were kept in a temperature monitored container. Do not cut the green straps or try to reassemble these. You can convert them into 12v modules by cutting the busbar between the 4th and 5th cell with a dremel and cutting wheel but don't remove the cells from the enclosure. The green straps are structurally applying compression to the cells and cells are showing some bloating which is normal when lifepo4 batteries age. These cells are designed to need compression and cutting those straps will cause the cells to expand even more.

The battery does not come with a BMS but the wiring is there and the sides pop out for easy access. The main positive and negative posts are easily accessible. You can always cut the posts, drill a hole in the main busbar leads, and simply add a nut and bolt. These are super easy to work on. No soldering needed to add a BMS. They are rack mountable. They can supply a crazy amount of amps so no worries about lack of power. Yes they are a little degraded but they have a ton of life left and at this price you can't go wrong. Maybe even add an active balancer but definitely use the batteries in the range of the discharge curve as shown. Large lifepo4 cells when fully charged typically drop in voltage. When we tested these they have been sitting for a while and still had good voltage except for the 2 bad cells so self discharging is not a concern although you will see self discharging when fully charged. They'll drop to 3.4-3.5v which is where they should be anyway as you can see with the discharge chart. You will lose some capacity but ultimately you want a setup that lasts many more cycles and stays balanced. Get them while they last!
